After weeks of teasers, leaks, fan theories and explosions, the Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 4 Battle Pass is finally here. It was released the morning of May 1,with a trailer that set up the beginning of the narrative for the season. The rumoured meteor has finally crashed into Dusty Depot, turning it into a meteor crater known as ‘Dusty Divot’. In the Dusty Divot you will find glowing Hop Rocks, the new item that allows players to defy gravity. Because of the meteor crash, many places like the prison, Tilted Towers and the motel have been damaged.
The Season 4 Battle Pass features 100 tiers of new rewards, including new cosmetic items, emotes and Sprays. There is still new items to unlock like a special umbrella that you can unlock with your first Season 4 win, special gliders and cool contrails.
The superhero theme may be a little underwhelming because there are only three skins that are close to heroic. Those skins are Valor, Carbide, and Omega - who looks more like a villain. Unlike any other season before, you will have a chance to upgrade some of the skins like Carbide and Omega by increasing your season level.
Shortly after the release, additional items were discovered, although they are not available yet. Dataminers, TwoEpicBuddies, found six additional skins: the male version of the Teknique skin, a female military character, two robotic military characters, two characters with neon colored designs and a final skin that resembles an air force colonel. There is also three pickaxes, three gliders, and three back bling hidden in the Season 4 patch notes that have yet to be released .
Other notable updates to Season 4 Battle Royale found on the Patch Notes are:
- Headshots are now prioritized when other body parts are in the way.
- Structures on the starting island can now be destroyed. Not the Battle Bus, though.
- You are no longer limited to just the 6 slots on your emote wheel for Sprays and Emotes and can now use any of the ones you own in a match.
- The Crossbow has been vaulted.
One exciting update that has been made is the Orange Justice dance. Kid_Fortnite12, or better known as Orange Shirt Kid, became popular after he submitted his dance for Epic Games' “#boogiedown Contest. Although he place 23rd, the developers decided to immortalize him by adding the dance into the game, which is unlockable at tier 23.
Players are already making guesses on what the theme for Season 5 will be, but for now get out there and level up.
Epic Games took Fortnite offline for a few hours earlier to prepare for the Fortnite season 4 release date and start time. And the new season has kicked off with a bang - literally. Players who have logged into Fortnite season 4 have found the rumoured meteor has hit. But instead of it hitting Tilted Towers, the Fortnite meteor has smashed into Dusty Depot to kick-off Fortnite season 4.
The Fortnite Battle Royale map has also been updated for Fortnite season 4, with a new location - Risky Reels - added north of Wailing Woods.
