Warriors Gaming, NBA 2k League team landed its first sponsorship on Aug. 13. The team announced that it had received a sponsorship from Nighthawk Pro Gaming by NETGEAR.
Netgear and Warriors Gaming struck a deal that includes Nighthawk signage and logos on the teams home arena — a common agreement between teams and sponsors. The Warriors will also create digital content throughout the season with the use of Nighthawk gear including routers and switches.
While this is Warriors Gaming’s first major sponsor, Nighthawk has sponsored six other gaming teams including NBA 2k League teams Ninjas in Pyjamas, PENTA sports, NRG Esports, Gen.G as well as Overwatch League Teams Seoul Dynasty and San Francisco Shock. The two will be celebrated their partnership on Monday, Aug. 13, at Esports Arena in Oakland. The event included free food and giveaways. Attendees were able to able to play with the pros as well as enjoyed a time for questions and answers.
Nighthawk has already been working to support its latest sponsorship acquisition for months now, releasing “Plays of the Week” every week. While the team creates the content, Nighthawk has been sponsoring the promotion.
“It is an honor to become the first sponsor of Warriors Gaming Squad,” said Heidi Cormack, senior vice president of global marketing for NETGEAR. “The alignment of Nighthawk Pro Gaming with professionals who use our products is integral to showcasing the best networking setup for online competitive game play.”
The Warriors are one of 17 teams apart of NBA 2k’s first season as a league. The team was founded as an affiliate of the Golden State Warriors. The team went 4-10 last season to tie in 16th place with the Kings Guard Gaming.
