With the gargantuan triumphs of Fortnite, Monster Hunter, Celeste and God of War, it is easy to overshadow some minor turn ups in this gaming universe. That said, there were some games which blew us away; and not in the good sense of the phrase.
You probably wouldn’t have heard of these games and if you have, we’re sure you will agree. So let’s bring out our shovels to bury some of the worst titles of 2018. Without further ado, let’s call them out:
The Inpatient
Supermassive games had built a fan base quite early on with their Until Dawn feature. This game was a VR release which brought forward a unique and parallel gaming experience. It seemed like they were going to impress with their next feature called Hidden Agenda. The agenda of this game should have literally remained hidden as the form of the game didn’t really match the VR genre.
To come out of the misery of this game, the developer came forth with ‘The Inpatient’ in early 2018. This feature was also a VR game which told the story of the sanatorium seen in the early series. The narratives of the game brought forth a good storyline but now completely lacked the horror element. If a horror VR game doesn’t give you even an inkling of a fright, what’s the point?
Bravo Team
Now we don’t have anything against Supermassive games, but the very second blunder of 2018 is also their work of fart. This is also a narrative driven game but is now based on an action sequence of gameplay. The problem with this game is that there is less of gunfights and more to just begrudgingly drool past the long narratives.
Other than this, this VR game has terrible camera work. In order to have a VR shooting game become successful, this camera work needs to be spot on. The small arsenal to choose from also doesn’t make things any better for the few gamers who even dare try the game.
Fear Effect Sedna
This game can actually be traced back to the very first PlayStation. This action horror title is somewhat like Resident Evil and incorporates a few puzzle situations. When we fast forward to the present, Sedna threw everything they started off with out of the window.
The game actually took a step back from 3-D third person, to 2-D stealth strategies. We would really like to meet the person who convinced his team to go forward with the game. Other than this technological retreat, the storyline is utterly bland and confusing.
Metal Gear Survive
Whenever a millennial hears Metal Gear, they automatically think Solid. This is because the game was a legend of its time and won several awards. Now how do you start at such a pedestal and land onto this list? Firstly, they have removed the armies and incorporated zombies. This too couldn’t have been a success if they didn’t take it as far as making the classic destructive element of blindly shooting everywhere and made it more efficient and difficult.
The game got many downloads because of its predecessor, but it was painfully disappointing. We wonder what Generation Alpha would say if they hear Metal Gear now.
