Psyonix, the video game developers that created Rocket League, announced the new summer road map plans for the game and players should be excited. This summer will bring some much needed updates to make leveling up easier and friends on different platforms will finally be able to play together.

The updates will begin in late May with the start of competitive season 8. Players will receive their Season 7 rewards, a new game arena and in-game music with the release of Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 3.

The new summer themed event will kick off on June 8 with the RLCS World Championships London. There will also be new licensed premium DLC for players to enjoy. In July, Rocket League celebrates it birthday each year with annual events a that include legendary loot for the occasion. There will also be an in-game event as well as some special throwback content for the fans who have been there from the beginning.

The real treat for the Rocket League fans will be the long- awaited cross platform party support. In July and August, the cross-platform feature will let you register for an in-game ID to add friends from other platforms to play the game together online. This feature will help you find friends and play much easier, but they haven't specified which platforms will be able to use cross-platform party support.

The Progression 2.0 update will bring a levelling system overhaul that will remove the level 75 cap. This update will bring more balance to the game by making levels a fixed amount of XP rather than an exponential curve. Players who pass level 100 will get new titles and banners and they will be assigned a new level now based on their acquired experience. Many fans are hoping that this update will make it easier for them to level up quicker.

The new XP mechanics being added to the updated system will also make it easier for players to reach higher levels. XP will only be given online but will include how much time you played in matches and your score. This way, if you don’t have the best team, you will still earn XP for playing the match and for scoring goals. The other XP updates include:

• Match Completion Bonus (for finishing games)
• Consecutive Games Bonus (for staying in Casual lobbies)
• Party Bonus (for playing with friends)
• Leaver Penalty (to punish quitters in all modes)
• Double XP Weekends
• And more!

Last but not least, the Rocket Pass will be released this summer. This Pass will let players move to a higher tier to unlock special kinds of content as they level up in the game. Like Fortnite, the Rocket passes will be released for a few months and then removed to make way for the next pass that will have brand new rewards.

These passes will be up for purchase but you can participate if you do not want to buy them. There will be free and premium tiers - with a flat fee to unlock - that will give you cosmetic items, decryptors, and title that you can preview before you decide to buy anything.

Although all the updates do not have definite dates, Rocket League has some great things in store for its fans this summer and this will only grow the games fan base.
