E3 2018 is right around the corner, but each passing second only fuels the anticipation among gamers across the world. Seeing their unperturbed enthusiasm, developers and publishers alike are beginning to give fans a small sneak peek into their big showcase in the days leading up to the main event. But these tiny little snippets are not enough for avid video gamers around the world.
This is true for developers who choose to remain tight lipped about their latest offerings, case in point Nintendo which has been, as is traditionally true with them, quiet about their E3 lineup.
To their credit, the company has confirmed that it will feature the Switch port of Super Smash Bros. during their E3 presentation, but they haven’t revealed any other titles which will be showcased. It can be safely speculated that Splatoon 2 will get a presence at E3 for Nintendo’s esports competition and we can see more of the same games make a cameo appearance which were announced at last year’s expo, these include Yoshi for Switch, Metroid Prime 4 and the most important of them all, Pokemon Switch RPG.
While this is purely guesswork at this point, we can all agree that Nintendo will have an ace up their sleeve, judging by their past track record at E3s. Could this be finally the year in which the company announces the highly anticipated Animal Crossing for Switch? Will we see other high profile Wii U exclusive games make a switch to the new console?
Why we believe Animal Crossing is going to be mentioned
If we’re to take cues from last year’s E3, Nintendo brought out several big franchises including Metroid, Yoshi, Pokemon and Kirby. Eventually Super Smash Bros. for switch was announced as yet another offering. Since we already are getting a new Fire Emblem game, Zelda and Mario are already on the Switch, the only big title that hasn’t been mentioned is the Animal Crossing, which is the greatest and most celebrated animal themed life simulator in recent history!
The last game in the Animal Crossing series, New Leaf is at least five years old. To fuel our passion for the game, Nintendo released Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on mobile phones last year. Put simply, it wasn’t engaging or satisfying enough to make us forget what their main console offering could be.
Why we believe Bayonetta 3 will be announced
Nintendo showcased the first gameplay trailer of Bayonetta 3 at The Game Awards last year, which was also incidentally the most requested one. However we have heard very little about the game since the initial trailer. Nintendo has always had a consistent track record of revealing games and announcing their details soon after, which means that we can hear more about Platinum Games’ flagship title during this year’s Direct Presentation.
While getting a full gameplay demonstration would be stretching the boundaries, it can be safe to bet that Nintendo will at least show a trailer featuring main elements such as the story and combat.
