Now that the respective regional seasons are over for League of Legends, the best of the best can meet on the world stage to see who can claim a huge payout, even bigger bragging rights, and the glory of being the best in the world at what they do. The mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is underway, and the teams are battling it out for best seeding possible and a surer path to the playoffs this year in legendary South Korea. And, as expected, the South Korean league representatives this year are lighting up the competition. King-Zone Dragon X are the favored team to win this mid season event, and (if they live up to the hype) will be defending South Korea’s reign as current World Champion region. But they aren’t the only ones who are tearing up the competition, hungry to bolster confidence heading into the home stretch of this season.

            Royal Never Give Up, the Chinese super team, has stayed just within striking distance of King Zone DragonX’s dominant position. Going 1-1 during their sets with KZDX going into this weekend, RNG has proven that they are just as capable as the tournament favorites to set the bar for the rest of the season. Making it out of qualifiers, seeded against EU team Fnatic in the semi-finals, RNG swept the Europeans out of the tourney with a controlling three rounds to zero victory. That was just enough for a stronger performance than KZDX, who made it out of their semi-final match against Flash Wolves with a three-to-one round count. The final match of the Invitational will be held on Sunday in France, between the two behemoths, to set the tone leading into Rivals of the Rift and beyond. Whichever team takes it, the loser will get their chance at revenge during the Rift matches, as Korea and China are slated to fight in China for bragging rights in the rivalry this summer.
