MSG Brings The NBA 2K League To Television
Knicks Gaming, the official NBA 2k league team for Madison Square gaming, has received the opportunity to have their very own reality TV series on MSG Networks. The documentary series, which will go by the same name, will follow the team throughout the NBA 2K inaugural season.
The show features six players who were selected to be on the team in the first NBA 2k League Draft last month at the Madison Square Garden. ?Like any other sports reality show, fans will get the chance to see the personal experience of each player through behind-the-scenes footage and unique storytelling. Knick Gaming will follow these players from draft day to game day and give fans insight on what it really takes to be a proffesional eSports player.
“MSG Networks is excited to bring viewers and gamers unique access to New York’s newest professional franchise, Knicks Gaming,” said Kevin Marotta, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Content Strategy, MSG Networks. “With the dramatic rise in popularity of eSports, we have a great opportunity to share with fans all the behind-the-scenes interaction among the team, and their weekly preparation for games.”
Special guests like Actor Jerry Ferrara, who is the team's Head Scout and Creative Consultant, Knicks fans, gaming enthusiasts and other local New York personalities are set to be featured on the show. The players also have the Knicks Gaming Training Center to call home and the show will film exclusive footage of the state-of-the-art facility at MSG Networks’ corporate headquarters.
MSG hopes to attract traditional sports fans by highlighting the players and coaches and their personal stories, but will also give eSports fans increased analysis and commentary on each game. Knicks Gaming premiered on MSG Networks on May 8 with the “THE TIPOFF,” the season’s first tournament. The 15-week inaugural season will end in August and all competition will take place at the NBA 2K League Studio New York City. You can catch Knicks Gaming on every Tuesday at 10 PM on MSG Networks and MGS GO, their own streaming platform.
