According to Sony's low-spirited presence of E3 this year, and it focuses a handful of games, noticing Ghosts of Tsushima was still somewhat surprising and a wild card. In comparison to The Last of Us 2, Death Stranding, and Insomniac's Spider-Man, this is almost an odd one out – it is a title few have heard about, and doesn’t have the buzz which surrounds the other three.
Now after seeing it closely, it may possibly be the most beautifully designed game of this year's E3, and is also foretold to be amongst the most worthy games for the PlayStation 4.
Ghost of Tsushima actually looks very hyper realistic. It is made up of a rich and detailed world, and knowing that it takes us to the year 1274, it shows a world which is still dominated by nature. Deep forests are spread over each mountain, and farmlands with settlements spread in between them. Temples and shrines are exquisitely constructed, having banners and sculptures accurate and appropriate for the time.
An attention to detail is found everywhere in the game, like seeing falling leaves or wind running through grasslands. You can also see footsteps imprinted or some dirt sprayed up on your face during encounters with enemies in unpropitious weather. This game is planned to be launched with its Photo Mode so that you may save or share your best shots with the world.
This game has marked the departure of its developers, who were best known before for their extreme themed adventures. Like in their Infamous series ‘Sly Cooper trilogy’. Separated from colorful battles of meta humans or cartoon animals, Ghost of Tsushima is quite a serious samurai game, one which will be based on actual histories.
The game is set in the island of Tsushima, and during the time of a Mongol invasion. The character in perspective is called Jin Sekai, who is a samurai caught in the middle of these conflicts. However, he's not the ideal figure of the samurai, and is not seen in a fearsome armor. Instead, you will see him wearing the Mino, which is a traditional and historical straw cloak which was mostly worn by common people.
The buzz is that he probably is a Ronin (a samurai without a master) – but if this is true, we’ll have to play the game to find out why. The fantastic showcase conducted by Sony was actually many hours down the game, somewhere around 9 days into the game’s Mongol invasion. Jin's fall from the grace of a samurai, if true, will probably be the key part of the game’s story and the game’s developer clearly doesn't want this spoiled for us.
While we still have very little idea regarding the way the game plays out, Ghost of Tsushima is at least so incredibly beautiful to look at that no words will help us describe it the way it deserves to be described! It’s clear to say that the game has huge potential
