Despite being a smash-hit across multiple platforms, Fortnite is still not available on android – which currently has the largest number of users on any mobile operating system in the world. Exact details about when the game will actually get released on Android are still unknown, but a release window has nevertheless been given by Epic Games and it is scheduled somewhere around this ‘summer’.
Fortnite was just released on Nintendo Switch, which came as a surprise announcement during this year’s E3. Going by tradition, Epic Games might just decide to surprise us yet again with an unexpected release.
There has been no official announcement or apps released so far, which means that users should remain cautious about any apps or ads that claim to talk about Android downloads related to Fortnite. These apps could send viruses and malwares to your computer and even worse, steal your data.
What we do know however are a few details about Fortnite Season 5. It is scheduled to start on July 12 and fans couldn’t be more excited.
The actual release date
The official release date is given as “Summer” 2018, provided directly from Epic Games’ official blog. It reads, “We are targeting this summer for the release… we promise that when we have more information to share, you’ll hear it from us first.” The author’s words show what great lengths Epic Games have gone to cover their tracks and keep as many details hidden from the public as possible.
Fortnite was launched on iOS back in spring, and has now been made available on every compatible device after a period of invite-only access. Epic Games sends mobile invites through emails for their iOS version on mobile phones. Users will have to sign up on Epic Games site to receive a code.
Experts believe that this is done due to the enormous user base of mobile operating systems. If Epic Games were to allow every potential mobile player to download their app, it would be too much for their systems to handle. It is safe to assume that given the number of Android users vying up to play Fortnite on their mobile phones, it will easily overwhelm their systems.
If you also want to sign up for Fortnite on Android, you can do so by visiting the Epic Games site and login to your existing account. You will then be shown a list of compatible devices which you will need access to in order to qualify for the downloads.
Currently the list of possible devices include Google Pixel 2, Huawei Mate 10, Huawei Mate 9, Huawei P8, LG G6, LG V30 and others. The exhaustive list can be found on their website. It is interesting to note that mobile Fortnite is not a straight port but designed from the grounds up with many elements that are fine tuned especially for the platform. Gamers should still keep an eye out for that email because the app could be released at any time.
