You don’t want to miss out on this, and you only have until tomorow to jump on it. For Honor: Starter Edition is free for download Steam until Aug. 27 while the standard edition is free for Xbox Live Gold subscription owners.
This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has offered For Honor for free — as it did it last year during E3, but it is the first time it is being offered for free on Steam. Last year it was offered to Uplay users. While it isn’t the full version, it is enough to give gamers a taste of what Ubisoft’s fighting game has to offer.
The Starter Edition includes the complete campaign mode as well as access to all the multiplayer maps and modes. The game offers six heroes and while it does offer more to be unlocked, it will cost more in-game currency than if players had the standard version. It forces players to spend longer working towards extra heroes and other customizations, but if you can handle the grind, it shouldn’t deter you too much especially when the Starter Edition normally runs for $15.
To download the game, just head over to the Steam Store. You’ll need to scroll through the selections under special offers and provide your date of birth to get to the download page. You will still need Uplay to run the game and download that at Play.ubi.com. Xbox One Gold subscribers can download the Starter Edition off the Games with Gold.
For Honor just will be receiving a new update, Marching Fire, which created a new faction called The Wu Lin and offered a new game mode called Breach. The update will be hitting PC, Xbox One and PS4 on Oct. 16.
