Epic's Fortnite Summer Series

Many people have anticipated Fortnite’s esports scene for 2019; however, they have announced a summer series called Summer Skirmish. The Summer Skirmish will last eight weeks and players will compete for a total pot of 8 million dollars, 250 thousand every weekend. The format will change from week to week, possibly including other game modes or win conditions. Though they have announced the changes every week, there has been no announcement regarding the specifics. The players will consist of a mix of esports signed players and content creators.

The Keemstar Friday Fortnite tournament and the Pro-Am at E3 have already shown insane viewership numbers and the support for the game has already been shown across the community. Esports organizations TSM, FaZe, Team Liquid, Cloud 9, and many more have already announced their teams for competitive teams. While we may have assumed that the creation of the teams may have been premature, the Fortnite scene is creating opportunities for these pros and content creator without Epic’s help. Now that a portion of Epic’s 100 million dollar prize pool is up for grabs, it’s time to see if all of the hard work has paid off for these players.
