Dota 2: Battle Pass News
The 2018 battle pass for Valve’s prized MOBA, Defense of the Ancients 2, is now live. Purchase of the pass gives the recipient access to special game modes, features, and earnable rewards. Dota 2’s gamepedia has this to help describe the value of the purchase: “Battle Pass owners will have access to The Underhollow, an exclusive dungeon brawl between teams of three players. Owners will also be able to queue for Mutation Mode, as well as form parties to challenge higher ranked players for extra MMR.” The purpose behind the pass is to supplement the prizepool for the world finals later in the season (25% of all income will go towards that pot), and for all the extras that a player gets for their buck, why not support the payday of the pros and the lifespan of your favorite game in the process?
Once the battle pass is bought and downloaded, there are multiple levels of rewards to be earned, in game. Points are earned through games played and achievements unlocked, and the higher the points, the more actual rewards a player receives. Each level is about 1000 points, and there’s an incentive in telling friends and fellow players about the pass and its benefits. On the same gampedia, Valve has promised 10,000 bonus points for reaching certain milestones in funding raised. The website goes on to read, “All Battle Pass owners will receive an extra 10,000 Battle Points if this year's prize pool surpasses last year's prize pool of $24,787,916. Another 10,000 Battle Points will be given out if this year's prize pool exceeds $30,000,000.” More purchases equals more rewards for ALL players, but a special treat for DOta Plus players is included. 5 extra Battle levels and 5,000 shards to use in game will be included in their original, unique purchase of the pass. If you’re invested into Dota already, this is a nice way to get the extra edge and keep your earnings for game time maximized.
