Supercell, owner and creator of Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, have announced that the Clash Royale League’s commencement is next week. Let’s take a look at some of the details regarding the league.

Format:

The Clash Royale League will feature 1v1 and 2v2 matches. However, they are implementing a rotational system to allow a more team oriented style of play. Clash is normally played 1v1, but Supercell is attempting to facilitate teamwork. The teams will be competing for a $1M prize pool!

Teams:

Many large orgs and some less known orgs have already begun drafting their Clash Royale teams. Well known organizations like Team Liquid, Cloud9, TSM, Immortals, Dignitas, 100 Thieves, Fnatic, and G2 have already secured a spot in the league. Some teams not as well known like Team Queso, Allegiance, and Tribe Gaming have also claimed their piece of the league. The teams had already signed players before committing to the league, but the remaining spots were contracted to players that participated in the Clash Royale League Challenge. The challenged allowed 25 million players to participate, compete, and earn a spot. To earn it, they had to place top 7000 amongst all the players and then play in more online qualifiers and live events. The organizations scouted the talent they deemed worthy and rosters were completed.

How, Where, and When to Watch:

The head of esports at Supercell, Tim Ebner, announced that the majority of the viewership were mobile viewers. Therefore, the broadcast of the CRL will be streamed in portrait mode initially to see  if that is the optimal way to view Clash Royale. If you want to catch the action be sure to watch the different regions begin. The Latin American region begins August 13, China begins August 17, NA on August 20, EU on August 21, and Asia on August 24th.
