Battlefield fans will have to wait a bit longer before getting to a taste of the next installment of the franchise. EA delayed the Battlefield V release, pushing it back to Nov. 20 to give developer DICE time to fine-tune the game.
"We're going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of [new Battlefield live service] Tides of War," wrote DICE General Manager Oskar Gabrielson. "We know moving the launch date means that we all have to wait a little longer. But we're going to take our time to make sure we get it right."
The game was previously set to release on Oct. 19, but DICE felt the need for some extra time to work on the game specifically focusing on the Tides of War live service with the increased focus of squad play in the esports world. The new release game pushes the game back a month and puts it to release after Red Dead Redemption 2, Hitman 2, Fallout 76 and the the games big rival, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 which is set to release on Oct. 12.
“We believe we have one of the best Battlefield games ever on our hands,” said EA in the press release. “A game that will deliver on an emotional journey through the return of unseen single player War Stories, a deep multiplayer experience [and] Battle Royale.”
While the release date has been pushed back a month, the beta version continues to be scheduled for release in Sept. The open beta will go live on Sept. 6.
