Last year at The International, Valve announced Artifact, an online TCG based off of Dota 2. The game is supposed to be a card game that exists inside the world of Dota 2 and contains many cards related to the items, heroes, characters, and abilities. Some plans regarding the game were released and we now have a confirmed release date.
Artifact will be released on all PC platforms on November 28th this year and a mobile release later next year. It will be released on for 20 bucks on Steam. From what we know, the card game is played on 3 lanes, similar to Dota 2, and the objective is to take down towers in order to attack the Ancient. Once the Ancient is destroyed, a player wins the game. 44 heroes will be selectable and craft decks of 40 cards. Currently, 280 cards have been included in the game with red, green, black, or blue color trims. Heroes can use equipment and temporarily die if they accrue too much damage. They respawn after a round and can be deployed to another lane when they return. Players will be able to trade cards, unlike it’s Blizzard predecessor, on Steam Marketplace. In terms of esports, Valve will be holding a 1 million dollar tournament to being the 2019 year for Artifact. Other competitions will be created for all skill levels along with planned professional tournaments. If you’re a card game fanatic or love Dota 2, Artifact may be the game for you to start a passion or career.
